The Mechanicville Stillwater Elks Lodge #1403 held its annual Hoop Shoot recently. The following were recognized for their 1st through 3rd place finishes in each age group:

Girls 8-9: 1st Ryleigh Hopeck, 2nd (tie) Jada Brown and Charli Goverski, 3rd (tie) Natalia Decker, Chloe Prock, Lyndsay Robens, and Patty Snyder

Boys 8-9: 1st Jacob LaFountain, 2nd Jason Carron, 3rd (tie) Anthony Fiacco, Sean Fitzgerald, and Hunter Spitalny

Girls 10-11: 1st Makayla Nadler, 2nd (tie) Quinlan Gowett and Ashley Higgins, 3rd (tie) Gabi Gagliastri and Erin Salvadore

Boys 10-11: 1st Jacob Gonzalez, 2nd Rocco DeVito, 3rd Marcus Tobin

Girls 12-13: 1st (tie) Danielle Breen and Paige Phelan, 2nd Kristin Bazar, 3rd Shelby Jenkins

Boys 12-13: 1st (tie) Giovanni D’Ambro and Evan Dunn, 2nd Jacob Henes, 3rd Dante D’Ambro

All of the 1st Place finishers were eligible for the Northeast District Hoop Shoot held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Saratoga Central Catholic High School. At Saratoga Giovanni D'Ambro placed 1st in the District for Boys 12-13, Makayla Nadler placed 2nd in the District for Girls 10-11 and Jacob LaFountain placed 2nd in the District for Boys 8-9.

Giovanni D'Ambro is eligible to shoot in the next round scheduled in Cohoes on February 4th, we wish him well! Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time to assist with the shoot and all who participated. A recognition event will be held at the Lodge in the near future to honor all the participants.
